A guy was picking his teeth with scissors.  When he laughed, the scissors went down.  But, luckily he lived!!! Weird Huh?? Mr. Koczot shared other weird news to us.  We thought, How fascinating!

Visit allweirdnews.com for more weird news!

Current Events !

You will have current events each week. At first it sounded difficult and boring since we didn't really like watching or reading news.  But, news can be interesting.  It's really your job to make your current event exciting.  Your goal must be to bring to class a unique, international current event.

Race vs. Culture

A topic we discussed is the difference between race and culture.  I have to admit we really didn't know the answer.  But, now we're wiser! Here's the answer: Culture is learned (and may change over time), while Race* is inherited.

Race*- A set of bodily traits shared by a group of people.

What is it ???

We'll answer this one for you!  The picture above, is called Jamaican Jerk Chicken Pizza.  Jamaican Jerk is one of the best-known Caribbean food.

Developed Countries / Developing Countries

Does anyone know the difference between a developed country and a developing country???  If you don't you'll find out this year:)  If you do know what it means, name a country that is developed & another that is developing.

Panama Canal !!!

One of Mr. Koczots favorite topic to talk about is the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal is the only route from the Atlantic ocean to the Pacific ocean without going around South America (7,800 miles around). You will study the Panama Canal more when you get to Latin America. In Latin America, you will learn 3 regions:

1. Mexico & Central America (8 countries)

2. Caribbean (13 countries)

3. South America (12 countries)
